About Me

UNDERGRAD – Graduated from Rowan University with two degrees: Bachelor of Arts in Education, Specialization in Elementary Education and Bachelor of Arts in History, Concentration in International Studies.

GRAD- I have recently completed my Masters in Curriculum & Learning with a Concentration in Teaching Children Mathematics to attain specialization as a Math Coach from William Paterson University. I have a strong passion for math since it was one of the subjects I struggled with as a child. I am always seeking newer and more effective methodologies and practices to help raise math understanding and reduce anxiety.

I have served as a teacher, instructional special education aide, and tutor while assisting English Language Learners and Students with Special Needs. Outside of school, I tutor students with math learning disabilities and I am an avid baseball, football, and soccer fan.

Fun Facts

I JUST bought a home in Dumont, NJ with my wife, Alexandra, and dog, Max!

I LOVE to travel abroad! My most recent trip was to Italy (Rome, Venice, Florence, and Montalcino) with my wife last April.

I was nominated and presented my history research to the National History Honor Society in San Diego, California on post-World War I foreign policy with a focus on reparation debt and its impact upon German and U.S relations.

My recent thesis was on the impact online homework has upon student math academic performance and engagement.

My Philosophy

Becoming a teacher has and will always be my most treasured experience of my life. From a young age, I have wanted to shape today’s future. I believe the success of tomorrow relies on the accomplishments of today. Every day my approach as an educator is objective. I consider each interaction an opportunity to impact a students life and prepare them for future responsibilities and challenges. Therefore, goals are always included in my instruction because they allow students to set their own objectives, which makes learning differentiated and targeted.

Learning is indeed a challenge. From the classroom and into a home, education must be consistent and fluid. To accomplish this, I rely upon an “open door policy.” My communication with parents and students does not end at the bell. Most importantly, informing parents and guardians of the curriculum being taught is a necessity to ensuring students are properly applying skills being taught in school.  I promise to be committed to developing additional sources to discuss successes and issues through my website, podcasts, newsletters, weekly All-Star certificates, e-mails, and phone calls.

Education is an ever-evolving field. To stay ahead of the curve, I am dedicated to becoming trained in newer resources, technologies, skills, applications, and teaching styles to make my instruction the best it can be. Each day will have routines, but will also incorporate varying techniques to maintain student interest and involvement. Education must be engaging for it to be effective.

Your website is amazing! I am a fifth grade teacher in Illinois and I am hoping to do something similar to your Hall of Fame idea. That’s incredible! I’m assuming you do all of your own tech work? Great site!

I am a fifth grade teacher in Utah and stumbled upon your blog during a google search. I love the links you have provided for the students to reference and the projects you have going on in your classroom. Thanks for posting all of this stuff for other teachers to borrow from. You must be one amazing teacher.
